I was not meant
to have Miniature Schnauzers, but since my son,
5 years old Enzo, was not able to manage the boxers
then he wanted a small breed for him and I was
figuring out which breed could be suitable for
him and at the same time to be able to deal with
my boxers.
I wanted a strong dog with great temperament and
at a size manageable for my Enzo so many came
to my mind but the miniature schnauzer was going
to be.
The Miniature Schnauzer breed has lots of problems
with missing teeth according to what I was seeing
and also I found out his eyes problems so I needed
to look for healthy dogs and also see how I could
analyze my dogs in order to avoid these problems
in my kennel.
So I began looking for Miniature Schnauzers to
get for me, I was told “Chelines”
– Spain was one of the best lines in the
world for these minies, so I decided to get that,
a chelines boy, but the first I met while being
in Zambia, through the internet, was Barbara of
“Trufas Negras” - Argentina and we
suddenly began a good friendship and sharing things
about dogs and us, since Barbara knew about my
plans then she offered me a guidance with the
breed, and also offered me a nice good baby for
showing in Peru, so I thank her for that.
Time passed by and I didn´t get any answer
from the Chelines guy but I got an answer from
Oriol, Schnauzerdreams kennel, and he really was
good to me, he showed me some babies he had and
allowed me to choose the one I felt it was best.
I thanks Oriol for allowing me to have a gorgeous
boy.
When coming to feeding, well would be the same
as for boxers, my minies will be fed just natural
raw food, chicken mostly and for this I recommend
you great books and also interesting information
on Chloe´s kennel about natural raw food
(www.tanyatiboxers.co.za).
Since health is first thing has to be all right
and since this breed has eyes problems I will
be checking their health as it should be and results
will be posted, the idea Is to breed a healthy,
sounding miniature schnauzer that will give its
owner a pleasant life and vice versa. You can
read more about eye problem here http://www.katewerk.com/rd.html
and also here http://amsc.us/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=93&Itemid=27
Size is another issue I found in Miniature Schnauzers,
there are some who prefer a small mini like a
toy, others pay attention to structure and not
size then others see minies like a terrier and
therefore the movement is terrier alike and I
saw others who don´t pay attention too much
of it and they would rather have a strong healthy
and good movement dog of course in both cases
they have to stick to the standard. Since you
cannot tell if a pup will turn to be one of the
smallest or one of the biggest in the breed then
I will do my best to select good dogs that will
be in the FCI standard and God helps me doing
it so wish me good luck!
So now you know the reason of me having Miniature
Schnauzers and hope you enjoy each history and
the pages to come in the future.
